Getting to Know Your Beason Roof

Shingles may be at the top of your home’s list, but each roof has many working parts. Beason Roofing Solutions is here to help you understand how each layer of your roof functions so you can make the best decision for your home or business.

Underlayments lay directly on the roof decking and protect both the shingles and decking. BRS uses synthetic felt underlayments that are lightweight and tear-resistant. Available in either 15# or 30# thicknesses, synthetic felt offers protection against leaks, mold, and UV damage.

Ice and Water Shield

BRS uses an ice and water shield to protect areas that may be susceptible to ice and water damage. We apply this material in all roof valleys, around penetrations, in transition areas, and in slopes between 4/12 and 2/12. This material has an adhesive back that bonds to the roof deck and adds an additional layer of protection where leaks often occur.

Architectural Shingles

Our most popular residential selection, architectural shingles are also known as dimensional or laminate shingles. They are composed of an array of shapes and sizes that give the roof a multidimensional look that resembles shake. They weigh more than 3-tab shingles and consequently have a longer warranty and offer improved protection for your home. BRS offers a wide range of high-quality shingles made in America by CertainTeed.

3-Tab Shingles

3-tab shingles have a uniform size and shape and are typically less thick than architectural shingles. Because of their lighter weight, they often need to be replaced more often than other shingles. Their inexpensive cost makes 3-tab shingles the desired choice for smaller budgets.

Accessory Shingles

Accessory shingles are installed in the hips and ridges of residential roofs. BRS offers a number of styles to finish the hips and ridges of both 3-tab and architectural roofs, and they carry the same warranty as the shingles on which they are applied. Our architectural ridge options include CertainTeed’s ShadowRidge®, CedarCrest®, and Mountain Ridge® shingles.

Starter Shingles

Starter shingles are the first step of shingle application and are designed to work specifically with different styles of shingles for consistent appearance and performance. CertainTeed manufactures starter shingles under the product names Swiftstart® to be used with the Landmark® series and High Performance Starter to be used with Grand Manor®, Highland Slate®, and Hatteras® shingles.
